Gold Ore Flotation Process: All You Need to Know About Applicable Ores & Grinding Key Points

Hello everyone. Today we will talk about the mainstream mineral processing technology for rock gold deposits — the gold ore flotation process. Flotation is the most commonly adopted technology for rock gold in gold concentrators. It is mainly used to treat gold-bearing ores with highly floatable sulfide minerals and boasts strong practicality.


This process features prominent core advantages. It can maximize the enrichment of gold in sulfide minerals. The tailings after separation can be directly disposed of, bringing lower overall operation and maintenance costs for mineral processing and excellent cost performance. At present, flotation is applied to mineral separation for as many as 80% of rock gold mines in China.


It targets specific ore types: ores with fine gold particles and good floatability. It can efficiently process sulfide gold-bearing quartz vein ore, polymetallic gold-bearing sulfide ore, as well as carbonaceous and graphite-type gold-bearing ore.

Finally, let’s focus on the control of grinding fineness. For gold encapsulated in sulfide minerals, grinding only needs to achieve the monomer dissociation of sulfide minerals. When gold is intergrown and adhered to gangue, grinding must proceed until gold monomer dissociation is realized. Please note that the optimal grinding fineness for actual production must be accurately determined through mineral processing tests to guarantee gold recovery rate.
